SHORT, SHARP INTERVIEW: ERIK ARNESON

throesPDB: Can you pitch THE THROES OF CRIME in 25 words or less?

Twenty-six short stories. All crime. Some noir. Some humor. Plus six true-crime essays about remarkable events in Philadelphia. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund.

PDB: Which music, books, films, songs or television shows do you wish you had written?

So many. Big Maria by Johnny Shaw. The movie Rogue One (or anything in the Star Wars universe. The Norwegian television show Occupied. The Johnny Cash song “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.”

PDB: Which of your stories do you think would make good films or TV series?

Love this question. I think the short stories “Alive” and “All Alone” could be turned into interesting indie films.

PDB: Who are your favourite writers?

It’s a long list, but in the spirit of short and sharp I’ll limit myself to five: Jen Conley, Merry Jones, Owen Laukkanen, Jon McGoran, and Duane Swierczynski.

PDB: What’s your favourite joke?

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Cows go. Cows go who? No, silly. Cows go moooooo.

PDB: What’s your favourite song?

I’m cheating here. Two: “Deep” by Adam Again and “Goliath” by Steve Taylor and the Perfect Foil.

erikarnesonsquare2-300x300PDB: What’s on the cards?

Hopefully a royal flush.

PDB: Anything else?

Work continues on my first novel, a thriller – hopefully that comes out in 2017.
